As the new year opens, the leading trade associations, including Assografici represented by President Emilio Albertini, take stock of the state of affairs in the graphics industry. Two trends come to light: that graphic printing, especially advertising and sales, is in a structural crisis; and that growth in the world of paper technology and processing is closely related to macroeconomic trends.
Driven in part by Industry 4.0, businesses continue to invest in technology, but that is clearly declining. Investments in offset printing are on the rise, especially in machines that can handle larger sizes or in new coating or finishing units.
